Destinee Kristine Burden, 25, and Nicholas Wayne Harrison, 28, became engaged May 24on the grounds of Wilmington College near the bell tower.

Destinee is the youngest daughter of Bryan and the late Lisa Burden, formerly of Wilmington. She is the granddaughter of Nolan and Barbara Burden, and the late Gregg and Ruth Ann Ellington, all of Wilmington.

In old-fashioned tradition, Nicholas asked Destinee’s father for her hand in marriage. He also asked permission to propose to Destinee in the same spot near the bell tower where Bryan and Lisa got married in 1980.

Nicholas is a Service Technician for an underwater technology company, and Destinee is a licensed Esthetician working at a medical spa.

No wedding plans have been made thus far.
