VFW Post 7484 in Blanchester was presented the first copy of "Heroes" because the unit annually takes part in the Memorial Day program at Garrison Cemetery. The book tells about members of the Garrison and Rude families who were early American war veterans, many of them interred in the cemetery.
The VFW group in Blanchester has its own story to tell. With about 25 veterans on the membership roll — including recipients of two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and numerous Bronze Stars — VFW Post 7484 has settled into Room 217 in the Blanchester Municipal Building.
