MORROW, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have suspended a search in the Little Miami River in Warren County for a man who fled police and jumped into the water after being spotted in the yard of a home where firefighters were extinguishing a blaze Friday night.
The man is still considered missing, however, and the investigation continues.
The man was described as a “person of interest” in connection with the fire.
The search Sunday for the 27-year-old man focused on the area around the Little Miami River about 35 miles northeast of Cincinnati. The water temperatures were so cold a person going into the river could get hyperthermia.
Authorities lowered water levels at a dam Saturday to slow the current and aid the search.
Authorities used boats, a helicopter and police dogs during the search.
