Fire damages 20-25 acres

A field fire off Reeder Road, south of Cowan Lake State Park, burned about 20 to 25 acres and kept 14 firefighters from two departments busy starting about noon Wednesday. The wind was “really strong,” said Clinton Warren Joint Fire District and EMS Chief Bob Wysong, making the work more difficult. The site could not be reached by fire truck, so the fire was fought using flappers, backpacks and leaf blowers. Wysong said he’s not positive of the cause, but believes the blaze was accidental. There were a couple houses in the path of the fire and located in a wooded area, but no damage occurred to any structures, said the chief. The Blanchester Marion Township Fire District also responded with firefighters and equipment.

The field fire affected three properties, said Clinton Warren Joint Fire District and EMS Chief Bob Wysong. As the photograph shows, the blaze burned off vegetation. Also, on Tuesday, the Clinton Warren department fought a field fire off Lebanon Road. About five acres of pasture field were damaged from that fire, with no structures damaged.
