WHS names March Students of Month

WILMINGTON — Wilmington High School announces the March students of the month:

The Business Department recognizes Daniel Ames for his positive attitude, efficient time management, and productivity. Daniel is able to prioritize the tasks he needs to accomplish and maintain focus on what needs to be done. He moves through assignments quickly while producing quality work. These qualities will prove valuable as he continues his education and enters the work place.

The English Department recognizes Jeffery Burton for his friendly smile and bringing a positive attitude into class every day. Jeffrey is diligent in completing his work and actively participates in class and offers creative answers. His commitment to learning has grown tremendously this year.

The Social Studies Department recognizes Hannah Pridemore for having accepted a key leadership role in the Mock Congress and as a presiding officer in the Senate. Hannah was able to manage competing interests, lead with fairness, and keep everyone involved in the activity. She is a proven leader. Hannah earns trust among her classmates through her wise and fair approach to decision making. During class discussions, her insight brings clarity to complex issues involving law, politics, current issues, and the processes of government. She sets a wonderful example of how to be confident, humble, curious, articulate, and prepared.

The Science Department recognizes Nerissa Lannerd for her continued effort in class. She continues to be a positive role model for class, completes her work, maintains a positive attitude, participates regularly in class, and shows great character overall.

The Math Department recognizes Megan Halloran for approaching each class period with a great attitude. In addition to completing her work diligently in class, Megan demonstrates engagement with the concepts through formulating excellent questions regarding course material. She is also willing to provide assistance to her fellow students who may be struggling in class.

The Wilmington Agriculture Department recognizes Rachael Billups who has proven to be a stand out in the freshman class, both academically and in CDE competitions. Rachael was recently named the District Creed Public Speaking Champion and has worked diligently proving to be one of the top nine in the state in this event. Rachael volunteers for numerous activities and is currently a member of the Dairy Team which was awarded the top honor at the Wilmington College Aggies contest. Rachael is a proven leader who will assist the program for years to come.

The Art Department recognizes Kalista Adkins for her hard work both inside and outside of class. She is always eager to try new techniques and master different art mediums. Her work is creative and thoughtful.

The Foreign Language Department recognizes Rebecca Durflinger as a stand-out Spanish student. She not only excels in the classroom, but she also uses Spanish outside of class, explores the language on her own and leads by example by taking risks, helping others, and being positive.

The Choral Department recognizes Caleb Beck for consistently working hard in class and proving himself and using his work ethic to set an example for other students. He is a leader in his section and can always be counted on for an outstanding performance.

The Band Department recognizes Seth Murdock for his superior level of commitment and dedication to excellence and teamwork. Seth is a member of the Wind Ensemble and performs in the percussion ensemble.

The Exceptional Student Education Department recognizes Sydney Wright for always having a positive attitude and showing other students what it means to work hard. Sydney has high expectations when working with other students and requires them to think for themselves, but is also willing to help where she sees a need. She is a great asset to ESE classroom not only during Job’s Class but also on field trips and outings.

The Health and PE department recognizes Cam Stewart for always having a positive attitude and showing other students what it means to work hard. He contributes to class discussions and completes all that is asked of him.

The Theatre Department recognizes the work of Zach Bueno. Zach has played a pivotal role in the stagecraft class this year. He has lead groups on major projects working on the set, lights, and props for the musical. He is a dedicated team member and always puts in hours of work beyond the class period. He has also stepped up as a strong leader in the cast and helped bridge the cast and crew, working in both the technical and acting arenas.
