Several WC seniors recognized

WILMINGTON —Several Wilmington College students were recently recognized at a presentation at the college’s 35th Annual Student Honors Convocation.

Seniors Brian A. Whitten of Wilmington and Kaitlyn M. Brewer of Wilmington are recipients of the Middle Childhood Academic Excellence Award in Education, and senior Michael A. Disney of Wilmington is the recipient of the Spanish Academic Excellence Award in Humanities.

Additionally, Disney, Brewer and Whitten were inducted into the Green Key Society, Wilmington College’s honor society founded in May 1951. It was organized to recognize superior scholarship by students from WC in the years following accreditation by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges in 1944. Juniors and seniors become eligible for Green Key membership upon the completion of 75 or 90 semester hours, respectively, with grade-point averages of 3.75 and 3.50, respectively.

Brewer, a graduate of the Wilmington High School, is majoring in education and English.

Whitten, a 2012 graduate of Wilmington High School, is majoring in education.

Disney, a 2012 graduate of the Ohio Connections Academy, is majoring in business administration and Spanish.

Senior Aubrey A. Malott of Blanchester is the recipient of a Life Science Academic Excellence Award in Biology. The 2012 graduate of Blanchester High School is majoring in biology with a concentration in life science.

Senior Jessica D. Rice of Wilmington is the recipient of the Business Administration Academic Excellence Award. The 2012 graduate of Wilmington High School is majoring in business administration with a marketing concentration.

Senior Kaitlin P. Esselman of Wilmington is the recipient of a Life Science Academic Excellence Award in Biology. The 2012 graduate of Fairfield Local School District is majoring in biology with a life science concentration.

Senior Elizabeth A. Biggane of Wilmington is the recipient of the Social Work Academic Excellence Award in Social Sciences. The graduate of the Forest Park High School is majoring in social work.
