Poster contest winners announced

WILMINGTON — Earth Day poster contest winners have been announced, and an awards ceremony to honor them is scheduled for May 10 at the Clinton County Courthouse.

The 10 county winners, spanning grades K through 5, are named below with their respective schools.

The students who will be recognized at the ceremony are Putnam Elementary kindergartner Caylee Haines, Denver Place Elementary first-grader Alexis Murphy, Clinton-Massie Elementary second-grader Scarlett Patterson, Holmes Elementary second-grader Jesse Keith, Clinton-Massie Elementary third-grader Tricia Wilson, East End Elementary third-grader Michael Scarberry, Blanchester Intermediate fourth-grader Aubrey Stevens, Blanchester Intermediate fourth-grader Dustin Black, Clinton-Massie Elementary fifth-grader Mia O’Leary, and Clinton-Massie Elementary fifth-grader Stephanie Nichols.

Judges for the poster contest were the Clinton County commissioners.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, the Clinton County Solid Waste Management District (CCSWMD) will host the awards ceremony. Members of the public can attend.

During the program, the county commissioners will individually recognize the students and present them with their awards.

Also, all in attendance can obtain first editions of the 2016-17 calendars that feature the winning artwork.

The ceremony is expected to take about a half hour, followed by a time of light refreshments.
