Clinton-Massie’s Class of ‘16

CLARKSVILLE — The class of 2016 was all smiles as it entered the gymnasium to “Pomp and Circumstance” commencing the future beyond the hallowed halls of Clinton-Massie High School.

Donned in their red and blue caps and gowns to honor their Clinton-Massie heritage, students shared their final hour together reminiscing about the past and talking about the future. Class President Madison Baker and Salutatorian Casey Cochran offered words of encouragement and celebration, and Valedictorian Nikki Settlemyre shared with classmates that they were forever bonded by their high school experiences and would always be united by their school.

The graduating class also honored the memory of Cheyenne Dale Burton, who passed away on March 1, 2015, with a display containing a white rose, her photograph, and her graduation gown. The class also displayed the Remembrance Plaque that was given to the school as well as an empty seat in the processional where she would have been seated.

A diverse class of artists, musicians, athletes and scholars, Massie’s most recent graduates have accumulated a collection of accolades of which to be proud.

Students graduating Summa Cum Laude (4.0-3.7 GPA) include Madison Baker, Mary Baldwin, Casey Cochran, Rachel Cochran, Kelly Deatherage, Dylan Klingensmith, Miquela Santoro, Ashleigh Sell, Nikki Settlemyre and Thomas Shelton.

Students graduating Magna Cum Laude (3.699-3.5) include Jessica Craft, Joanna Dell, Mallory Homan, Harrison Lamb, Sarah Martin, Shaelen Poole, Katheryn Starnes, Sarah Wessendorf and Josie Wolf.

Students graduating Cum Laude (3.499-3.25) include Rachel Avery, Chase Baker, Alexandra Barnes, Gwendolyn Broderick, Margo Brooker, Morghan Eades, Gwyneth Evans, Hunter Fentress, Taylor Flanigan, Jadon Flannery, Kelsi Frump, Jacob Garrison, Taylor Gasaway, Madeline Groen, Gabriel Leavitt, Shelby Miller, Dawson Mullis, Mallory Potts, Madison Purkey, Matthew Sell, Taylor Shumaker and Rachel Yelicich.

Students graduating with Distinction (3.249-3.0) include Sidney Avey, Emma Bailey, Jordan Bills, Bryce Boyd, Hayley Curtsinger, Brandon Denton, Emilie Fisher, Kimberly Fisher, Dustin Harper, Hailey Minton, Michelle Price, Alyssa Robinette, Caitlyn Robinson, Sarah Shambrock, Paul Shehorn, Julia Sowers and John Tunon.

Students receiving Honors Diploma include Chase Baker, Madison Baker, Mary Baldwin, Gwendolyn Broderick, Casey Cochran, Rachel Cochran, Jessica Craft, Kelly Deatherage, Taylor Flanigan, Jadon Flannery, Dylan Klingensmith, Dawson Mullis, Miquela Santoro, Thomas Shelton and Katheryn Starnes.

A Career Tech Honors Diploma went to Ashleigh Sell.

The top-10 standings in the Class of 2016 are: Nikki Settlemyre, first; Casey Cochran, second; Rachel Cochran, third; Kelly Deatherage, fourth, Thomas Shelton, fifth; Mary Baldwin, sixth; Miquela Santoro, seventh; Madison Baker, eighth; Dylan Klingensmith, ninth; and Katheryn Starnes, 10th.
