Lavender Festival Saturday, Sunday in Clarksville

MARTINSVILLE — Peaceful Acres Lavender Farm will hold its 8th Annual Summer Solstice Lavender Festival June 18 and 19.

“We decided to plan that festival to get as many people in the field as possible because it’s so peaceful and beautiful during the full bloom,” said Kym Prell, who owns the farm where the festival is held along with her husband, Mike Prell.

Kym Prell said those who like lavender, who want to experience something different – like gong meditation – or who are looking for a good family outing should consider attending the festival.

Admission is free and parking is free at the field. Paid parking is available at nearby farms.

A few of the events include picking lavender, gong medication, several paid workshops and educational talks and several venders will be on site to sell items, such as lavender-infused honey, soap, candles and oil. Raptor Inc. will present a collection of its namesake birds on Sunday from noon to 1 p.m.

Also, the Peaceful Acres gift shop will be open for the first time in three years.

For more information, see Peaceful Acres’ website at www.peacefulacreslavenderfarm.com. The farm is located at 2387 Martinsville Road.
