Honor Flight at the mural Friday

After an exciting weekend at the Banana Split Festival, talking with county residents and veterans, the volunteers of the Clinton County Honor Flight committee are moving to the Third Friday Party at the Mural. For those who did not get a chance to learn about Honor Flight or donate at the festival, the committee will have a tent at the mural this Friday 6 p.m. Rotarians and veterans will once again be available all evening to answer questions, pass out applications and receive donations.

“The fund raising efforts at the festival on Friday and Saturday went very well and the goal, of sponsoring 75 Clinton County veterans, is in sight, however, we aren’t there yet.” said a spokesperson for the committee. “We want to make sure every eligible veteran in the county has the opportunity to experience this unique tour of these special memorials in Washington D.C.” he added.

Every Clinton County veteran who served during World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam war is eligible and invited to complete an application. The stated objective of the A.M. and Noon Rotary Clubs, is to sponsor an Honor Flight with all Clinton County veterans on board.

A tax-deductible donation of $425 will sponsor one veteran, but donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Checks made out to Honor Flight Dayton may be dropped off at the booth or mailed to: Honor Flight Dayton c/o Jack Powell, 3435 Airborne Rd. Suite B, Wilmington, OH 45177. Cash donations will be accepted at any event at which the Clinton County Honor Flight Committee participates.

Applications for veterans and guardians will be available from the volunteers at the Third Friday Night event or from Richard James, [email protected] (937) 382-7871, Paul Butler, [email protected] (937) 283-5995 or at the Clinton County Veterans Service Commission office, 43 S. Walnut St.
