The Colonial Dames XVII Century Indian Trails Chapter held a grave marking and memorial in May for former Anthony Shaw Chaplain, Myrtle Marie Shaw Rutledge.

The memorial supported Ohio State Colonial Dames Society President Sharon Hendershot’s grave marking and historic site preservation project.

The chapter selected Mrs. Rutledge’s grave to mark due to her chaplain position of the former Anthony Shaw Chapter and her extensive involvement in the local community.

Mrs. Rutledge also was a direct descendant of Anthony Shaw.

A luncheon reception followed the grave marking and memorial service.

Committee members who organized the event included Kim Stackhouse, committee chairperson; Nancy Bernard, chapter president; Joyce Peters, founding chapter president; Karen McKenzie, treasurer; Frances Sharp, registrar; Alice Stewart, chaplain; and Mary Ann VanTress, member.
