Clinton County Democrats hosted Democrats from Fayette County, Greene County and Highland County with State Chair David Pepper and Cynthia Rice, candidate for Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court speaking last night in Wilmington.
Pepper said Rice is rated “excellent” by the State Bar Association, while her opponent is considered “not qualified.”
Democratic candidate for Clinton County Commissioner Dean Feldmeyer stated in his speech that county commissioners must be strong, caring and responsible and exhibit good family values. He said since 2004 commissioners have wasted over three-quarters of a million dollars of our elderly services tax levy, outsourcing to the Council on Aging of Cincinnati, letting them determine how and on whom our tax dollars are spent. He believes that no tax money should leave Clinton County.
Feldmeyer has been the minister of the Wilmington United Methodist Church for the past 15 years.
Scott Wharton, candidate for Congress, 15th District, farms the family farm, and is the captain of a Delta Airlines 747 and flies in the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America. He supports closing corporate tax loopholes that never lead to job creation, tax credits for businesses to create American jobs and targeted investment in infrastructure.
He said he supports safeguarding Medicare and Social Security. He believes that women should earn what men earn and we must work on tax and budget reforms that put working people first. He stated that “hundreds of people trust him daily with their lives, so you can trust him with your vote.”
