MARTINSVILLE — A tent camp meeting is planned for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings in connection with the 200th anniversary of the Martinsville Friends (Quakers).

The services will start at 7 p.m. each evening, and there will be light refreshments.

The event is being held on the lawn under a tent at Martinsville Friends Church, 112 E. Main St. (State Route 28) in Martinsville. The church, a brick building with a white steeple, is on the south side of route 28, and is set back from the roadway.

“In recognition of God’s grace to Martinsville Friends Meeting for the last 200 years, we will begin the next 100 years with an open-air, old-fashioned ‘camp meeting’ in a tent on the lawn. Come sing, worship, question, and hear the gospel as your ancestors experienced it,” states an informational flyer.

Saturday will be Youth Night, with 20-year-old Brandon Martin bringing the message.
