Bus safety always a CM priority

CLARKSVILLE — While the calendar indicates the week of October 17th is National School Bus Safety Week, school bus safety is a priority throughout Clinton County every week.

At Clinton-Massie Local Schools, every day school is in session, Clinton-Massie bus drivers provide safe and reliable transportation to and from school for 2,000 students.

Every day, 16 Clinton-Massie bus drivers run 21 routes and travel 1,977 miles to assure Massie scholars are afforded the opportunity to receive a quality education. In addition, Massie drivers also ensure students traveling outside the district to pursue academic studies are equally served.

These travels do not include the athletic competitions, field trips, or other outings where students rely on the steadfast service of those who drive the Falcon Fleet.

Massie school bus drivers are partners in education that manage weather and road conditions, student passengers, and other motorists — all of which can create special challenges as drivers carry out their duties.

They are also ambassadors who greet students each morning with a smile and end each day with a wave. They are a trusted presence in the lives of students — traveling thousands of miles each school year, navigating rural roads, neighborhood streets, and multi-lane highways, doing whatever it takes to deliver students to their schools and homes safely.
