Prose, Griffith earn OSHP honors

WILMINGTON – Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Kyle L. Prose has been selected as the 2016 Trooper of the Year at the Wilmington Post, while Ohio State Highway Patrol Dispatcher Deborah K. Griffith has been selected for the 2016 Ohio State Highway Patrol Telecommunications Award at the Wilmington Dispatch Center as well as the 2016 District Dispatcher of the Year.

The selection of Trooper Prose, 26, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2016 at the Wilmington Post. Fellow officers stationed at the Wilmington Post chose Prose based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

Prose joined the Highway Patrol in 2013 and has served at the Wilmington Post since leaving the Academy. Originally from Lucasville, Ohio and a graduate of Northwest High School in McDermott, Trooper Prose is currently serving in the Ohio Army National Guard and attended Shawnee State College. Prose has recently served as a Field Training Officer and has received the Highway Patrol Criminal Patrol Certificate award.

Prose and his wife Kala live in Hillsboro with their recently born daughter, Vivian.

The selection of Dispatcher Deborah K. Griffith is in recognition of outstanding service during 2016 at the Wilmington Dispatch Center, and in the Wilmington District.

Post Management, Troopers, and Dispatchers/Communications Technicians chose Griffith based on technical job knowledge and ability, enthusiastic work attitude, teamwork, and prompt and courteous response to the public’s requests for information and assistance.

Dispatcher Griffith joined the Highway Patrol in 2000 and has served at the Lebanon, Circleville, and Wilmington Posts. Dispatcher Griffith is originally from Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School.

Other Patrol awards include Lebanon Post Dispatcher of the Year in 2002, 2003, and 2013 as well as District Dispatcher of the Year in 2013. Dispatcher Griffith has also served as a Field Training Dispatcher for many new Dispatchers.

Griffith is now in contention for the State Dispatcher of the Year Award to be announced at a later date.

She and her husband David live in Martinsville. Debbie has three daughters, Katy, Paige and Courtney.
