Cat litter donations sought by CCHS

The Clinton County Humane Society asks Santa’s elves for cat litter for Christmas.

Scoopable, disposable, name brand or generic — whatever cat litter you are able to donate, the Clinton County Humane Society will gladly accept to use at the shelter.

Cat litter is No. 1 on the shelter’s wish list this holiday season, so if you’re out shopping for gifts or groceries, the volunteers ask that you please consider adding a bag or two of litter to your cart.

Last week, Scarlett Rodgers, a kindergartner at Denver Elementary School, celebrated her sixth birthday, and Scarlett had asked party guests to bring much-needed supplies for the animal shelter, especially cat litter. Scarlett and her family then brought the supplies to the shelter and visited some of the playful kittens available for adoption.

Donors can leave litter containers under the covered porch at 1760 Fife Ave. in Wilmington, and volunteers will bring it inside during their cleaning shifts.

The Clinton County Humane Society has adopted 7,030 total animals since 2003, including 1,371 cats and kittens, 5,634 dogs and puppies, 15 birds, one rabbit, four guinea pigs, two chinchillas, and three snakes. The shelter currently has approximately 50 animals for adoption.

CCHS is a no-kill, non-profit, volunteer-based organization. It does not receive county or government funding and depends on adoption donations to fund the shelter. Monetary donations can be mailed to CCHS, P.O. Box 1024, Wilmington, OH 45177.
