WHS honors 10 Students of Month

WILMINGTON — Wilmington High School recognized its Students of the Month for November.

The Agriculture Department recognizes Matthew Younker for his premier leadership and dedication to the program. Matt dedicates a great deal of time before and after school to improving the Wilmington FFA chapter and helping Ms. Messink. He has shown his dedication to the chapter through recruitment, participation, and his personal goals. Matthew is a joy to have in class and is an inspiration and help to his peers.

The Art Department recognizes Jeremy Marsh. Jeremy is a teacher’s aide and consistently goes above and beyond with his help. He is also a committed artist who exhibits a positive attitude, tries new techniques, and explores complex ideas.

The Business Department recognizes Alex Flanigan for demonstrating a high level of commitment to the quality of his course work. Alex completes his quickly, efficiently, and effectively. He pays attention to details and is well focused. Alex also shows creative expression through technology in the classroom.

The Choral Department recognizes Jasmine Sanchez for her positive attitude and encouragement of peers. Jasmine shows tremendous leadership for each choir in which she participates, is task focused and ready to sing when called upon. Jazmine goes above and beyond what is ordinarily asked of a student by translating Spanish lyrics for the choir and in serving as a positive role model for younger students as they mature and look to a senior as an example.

The English Department recognizes Ashley Brooks for her academic commitment. Ashley comes to prepared to learn and actively participants in each lesson. She is quick to help classmates and furthers class discussions by asking engaging questions. Ashley’s willingness to learn and her positive attitude towards learning makes her a natural role model to her classmates.

The Exceptional Student Education Department recognizes Robert Evans. Robert has adjusted well transitioning from middle school to high school. His positive attitude and academic work ethic serves him well. Robert loves to learn and is great friend to all his classmates.

The Math Department recognizes Icey Saylor-Dent for her academic commitment and work ethic. Icey consistently participates in class, submits quality work, and eagerly assists other students in need of academic assistance.

The Physical Education and Health Department recognizes Brooklyn Taylor. Brooklyn consistently goes above and beyond what is expected. She demonstrates a positive attitude and her willingness to learn is evident in her daily interactions in class. She freely encourages others and serves as a role model to her classmates.

The Science Department recognizes Kara Farmer. Kara consistently performs at or near the top on all assessments. She takes ownership of her education and strives to continuously further her level of knowledge. Kara’s maturity and focus is only surpassed by her kindness and patience towards her classmates.

The Social Studies Department recognizes Levi Howard. Levi has grown to be a more responsible student this year and is one of the most consistent in his class for participation and work completion.
