WILMINGTON — Several Wilmington Lions Club members were awarded chevron pins for their years of service in the club at the regular meeting of the Lions on Dec. 5. The chevron award program recognizes Lions for their long-term service beginning at 10 years and continuing in five-year increments.

District Governor Lion Gary DeFayette, a Wilmington Lions Club member, presented individual pins to each deserving member.

Len Perkins was recognized for 50 years of service.

Other Lions recognized included Bill Pierson, 35 years; George Mitchell, 20 years; John and Beverly Beireis, 10 years; Kevin Kesterson, 10 years; and Beth Mitchell, 10 years.

The district governor also recognized two members who recently passed away — Bob Camp had 45 years of service and Bill Mitchell was recognized for 30 years.

The remainder of the meeting was devoted to a food and crafts auction. Lion Nial Henry was auctioneer for pies, cakes, crafts and other things brought in by members.

This annual event provides funds that can be used for guests meals and other operating needs of the club throughout the year.
