Beauty Bar most dazzling window in Main Street Wilmington online voting

WILMINGTON — Main Street, South Street and Locust Street look beautiful all decked out and bedazzled for the holiday season. Merchants decorated their windows for this year’s HoliDazzle Contest with a “Signature Theme” — they were asked to create a holiday scene that incorporated something from their business.

The most popular crowd favorite chosen by online voters was Beauty Bar at 53 E. Locust St. Owner Crystal Carter held a decorating party with her staff after hours to create ornaments that featured false eyelashes, ruby red lips and travel-sized hairbrushes. “There was a lot of glitter, we really had fun!” she said.

There were so many great windows to choose from that Main Street Wilmington decided to also honor those in second, third and fourth place.

The second-place winner was Wilmington Vision Center at 151 W. Main St. Their window featured fashion eyewear modeled by a cute optical snowman in a wintry wonderland!

Third-place was a tie between H&R Block and Healthsource of Ohio. H&R Block’s window was titled “The Night Before Tax Day” and Healthsource of Ohio utilized medical supplies in a very creative way — there was a wreath made entirely of exam gloves and twinkling lights, and a tree ornamented with IV tubing and heart monitor tape garlands.

Fourth-place also was a tie between two great windows that deserve mention — South Street Wine Cellar and the Wilmington Masonic Lodge.

Take a stroll through downtown during the next two weeks and take a look at the gorgeous windows and shop at your local merchants. One purchase from a small business owner means a great deal!
