WILMINGTON — Josh Martin of National Cooperative Bank (NCB) recently presented a $2,500 check to Mark Rembert of Energize Clinton County (ECC) to assist local residents with the costs of becoming certified installers of solar panels.

ECC will be hosting a five-day solar installer training in Wilmington starting on Feb. 20, 2017, and will use the grant from NCB to reduce the cost of the course for Clinton County residents.

“We are extremely excited to offer this unique opportunity to local homeowners and contractors who are interested in getting certified to design and install solar generation systems,” said ECC Director Mark Rembert. “There are nearly 40,000 clean energy jobs in southwest and central Ohio, and the industry continues to grow. These are good paying jobs, often with starting salaries of $20 to $24 per hour.”

The training program will be led by Blue Rock Station of Athens, Ohio, one of the state’s leading solar certification trainers. After the five-day intensive training, students will be prepared to sit for the ETA Level 1 PV certification exam, which will be offered at the end of the course.

The course fee is $720 for Clinton County residents, and $970 for non-residents. This fee covers the cost of all course materials and the ETA examination fee. Registration for the course is currently open at http://solar.energizecc.com.

“NCB is proud to support innovative community programs like this,” said Josh Martin, Customer Service Head Teller at NCB. “Our bank has been at the forefront of financing investments in renewable energy across the country, and we are thrilled to be help spur solar energy investments in Clinton County.”

The course does not require any previous background in electrical energy or renewable energy. Homeowners and farmers interested in installing their own solar systems and building contractors are all encouraged to take the course.

Individuals, especially local residents, interested in the course should register soon. Class space is limited, as are discounts for local residents, which will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information about the course, contact Mark Rembert at [email protected] or (937) 728-0048.
