WILMINGTON —A local man has been arrested and charged with assault, domestic violence, and endangering children.

Wilmington Police were investigating an alleged incident of physically abusing a young child that occurred at a Rombach Avenue residence, as Police Chief Duane Weyand recently stated in his weekly News Journal column, and that investigation is complete, he said.

The charges were filed against Joseph Schlea, 23.

“The victim in this case was immediately removed from the residence at the time of the call and has since been placed with other family,” Weyand said. “The victim in this case isn’t related to Schlea. The victim in this case is under age three.”
