Fire causes $100K damage

The Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District responded to the report of a structure fire Saturday at approximately 9:30 p.m. at 3336 Pansy Road in Clarksville, and upon arrival firefighters found a fire in the basement of the house with heavy smoke throughout the rest of the two-story structure. The house, owned and occupied by Gary Blanton, had heavy fire damage to the fully finished basement and heavy smoke and heat damage on the first and second floors, according to Clinton-Warren JFD Captain Mick Friend. He added that all occupants got out safely without injury. Estimated damage to the structure and contents is $100,000. Wilmington FD, Chester Township FD and Blanchester Marion Township FD provided mutual aid. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office controlled traffic and the American Red Cross responded to assist the residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
