CM concert band, chamber singers clearly Superior

The Clinton-Massie High School Concert Band and Chamber Singers continue to earn high honors with their recent performances at the Ohio Educational Music Association (OMEA) District Large Group Contest held at Middletown Madison and Eaton high schools.

Judges evaluated each group’s performance of three pieces as well as their ability to sight read a new piece for which only a few minutes of study time was allotted.

Each group earned the highest overall Superior Rating and qualified to compete at the State Large Group Contest on April 21 at Lakota East and Lakota West high schools.

This is the second year in a row the Chamber Singers — who received straight scores of 1 by all four judges — have earned such an honor, and the fifth time in the school’s history that a choir has earned an overall Superior Rating.

This is the first time the Concert Band has earned such an honor, as the OMEA has no record of a band from Massie ever achieving this honor.
