BLANCHESTER —A Blanchester woman was charged with endangering children and possession of drug abuse instruments after police say she recently overdosed in the presence of young children.

At around 9 p.m. on Friday, April 21, Blanchester police responded to an overdose call at 7661 Rosewood Drive, where Jessica Turner, 28, was found unresponsive on a bedroom floor being cared for by a nurse who is a neighbor, according to Blanchester Police Chief Scott Reinbolt. Also present were Turner’s 6-year-old daughter, and an 8-year-old playmate, he said.

Turner was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

“Several hypodermic needles were found inside the house by the responding officer,” Reinbolt said.

He added that Turner’s daughter was released to her grandfather, who came to the scene and who also offered to take the girl’s 8-year-old friend home.

“Interviews of witnesses indicate that Turner ingested heroin inside the home,” said Reinbolt. “The two girls found her unresponsive and ran to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor then called 911 while another neighbor, who is a nurse, went to the house to lend assistance.”

He added, “The girls should be praised for seeking immediate assistance from a trusted neighbor.”

Turner will answer the charges in Clinton County Municipal Court.
