Local artists showcased at CMH

WILMINGTON — CMH Regional Health System is holding an open house and gallery exhibition in the CMH Professional Building 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 18.

The recently redecorated professional office building is now host to three floors of local artwork, with several pieces acquired for a permanent collection, and others presented in a rotating collection of local pieces.

Each of the building’s three floors feature a different medium or perspective. The first floor highlights Wilmington Middle School artists and includes pastel work, charcoal, pencil drawings, and paintings. The second floor highlights local photographers and their images of local scenes, and the third floor highlights local paintings, mixed media, and encaustic work.

The event is free and open to the community. Light refreshments will be served, and attendees will have an opportunity to tour the building, meet featured artists, and see local physician practices.

Greg Nielsen, CEO of CMH, emphasized why local mattered in artwork selection.

“We wanted this to be special,” he said. “In modernizing the building and redecorating, we had an opportunity to highlight the incredible talent in this community by exhibiting all local artwork. We’re so looking forward to welcoming the community into the space on Thursday to meet local artists and see their work.”

Thursday’s open house will feature artists including Mary Beth Thorngren, Hal Shunk, Jeff Hollon, David Shaw, Barb Regan, Jackie Schneder, Marco Renk, Shawn Hughes, Lisa Watson, Vanessa Addison, Breanna Barnett, Maliya Burris, Henry Hildebrandt, Lilly Middleton, Aeris McDaniel, Isaiah Fields, Ari-Anna Morris, Gracie Sutton, and Justice Belle, as well as CMH medical staff members and leadership.

The CMH Professional Building is at 630 W. Main St.
