A huge blizzard hit Ohio on Thanksgiving weekend, 1950, as shown in this photo of downtown Wilmington. According to the Nov. 28, 1950 News Journal, “Snow-tortured Ohio wriggled slowly from the embrace of the big weekend storm today, counting 55 dead and loss running into the millions.”

Workers used heavy equipment to move the snow around in Wilmington.

The Alta Roberts family made the most of it with a horse-drawn sled ride.
