WILMINGTON — CMH Regional Health System welcomed this month a new general surgeon, Dr. Byron Stapleton. He joins general surgeons Dr. Daniel Mwanza and Dr. Rachel Lovano, who started at CMH in April, as part of the surgery team.
Dr. Stapleton received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky and completed his general surgery osteopathic residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. While in Michigan, Dr. Stapleton was an Associate Professor of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University.
Dr. Stapleton is a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American College of Osteopathic Surgery. Dr. Stapleton and his wife, Dr. Rachel Kaplan, an OB/GYN at CMH, live in Wilmington with their two children.
Greg Nielsen, CEO of CMH Regional Health System, spoke to Dr. Stapleton’s arrival:
“Building our general surgery team is one of our top priorities, and we know Dr. Stapleton will be a tremendous asset to this team and to our community,” Nielsen said. “We’re excited to welcome him to CMH.”
