New owners, new community, new life

WILMINGTON — Econ-o-Transport of Wilmington is under new ownership.

Mike and Mary Eason, who started the company 25 years ago, have sold the business to Jimmie White and Traci Chandler, White’s fiancé.

“We would really like to thank the community for supporting us and their patronage,” Mike Eason said. “We actually were looking for the right people to buy the company, somebody that would appreciate it as much as us, and the people we found, they got it all.”

Mike Eason said the company began out of his and Mary’s garage as a repair place and morphed over time to include other services as well.

“We love it here,” Chandler said. “It’s just a great feeling. We get to meet everybody in the community.”

Chandler said she and White moved here recently. She came from the Cincinnati area, and he from New York. Together, they hope to find a new lifestyle, one that involves less of the hustle and bustle of city and more quiet countryside.

“(We came) looking for new roots and a new life together,” Chandler said. “This is a business that we can do and be the way we want to be, which is in the quiet, mowing grass, meeting people and enjoying bonfires.”

Chandler said she and White were excited to get to know everyone in Wilmington.

As for the Easons, Mike said he hopes to spend more time at home and with his family, although he intends to continue the service and repair shop under the name Eazon Auto Repair.

“I guess I’m just going back to where it all started,” Eason said. “I’m just going to try to ease on to a new life.
