I am writing to brag on this community. On Saturday, April 30, I witnessed an outpouring of love and support for a non-profit crisis pregnancy center that has served Clinton County for 30 years, the New Life Clinic.

In the spring of 2014 NLC purchased property on the corner of South and Sugartree streets in downtown Wilmington with the intent to restore, move in, and continue the crisis pregnancy business for this community. At that time, board members sought a loan from the city to begin the process and they reached out to supporters (faithful churches, individuals and local businesses). A daunting task for a 501 (c) 3 non-profit that survives on donations anyway, raising an additional $200,000 was certainly a God-sized request. But on April 30 at the ribbon-cutting and grand opening, it was clear that God stepped up to the plate and hit this one out of the park.

NLC has not only well-surpassed every fundraising event goal so far this year, they are moving into the restored building without debt. In addition to the money given specifically to the Capital Campaign in the last two years, the Executive Director was presented a check by Dennis Humphreys, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, to pay off the remainder of the city loan. Pastors Dale McCamish (Wilmington Church of Christ), Dennis Humphreys (CBC), and Bennie Hill (Cramer & Hanover Church of Christ, Lexington, Kentucky) along with former mayor Randy Riley and current mayor John Stanforth all testified to the value of this organization in saving and changing lives for the past three decades. A proclamation from the Honorable Mike Daugherty, Wilmington Municipal Court, was awarded and Mr. Stanforth even declared April 30, 2016 New Life Clinic Day, commending the ministry for its work.

It is clear to me that God values this ministry too, and He has used believers from numerous churches throughout our county to assure that the work will continue. To echo the words of Moses as he spoke to the nation of Israel: “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him” (Deut. 30:19).

Thank you, Clinton County, for choosing life. Thank you, Pastors, for your heart for this ministry and your amazing leadership. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the game- winning hit that has given this pregnancy center a win, and for the life-

giving blood you shed to give this daughter New Life. Serving Him for Life,
