WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — The Rodger O. Borror eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Washington Junior High 56-44 Monday night.
The Hurricane (4-2 on the year) led 16-8 in the first quarter as Brady Evans scored 14 points to pace the offense. Washington responded with 11 straight points to grab a 19-16 lead at the quarter break.
Jordan Macik, Dominic Davidson and Tyler Parks came off the Hurricane bench in the second quarter to keep the difference at 3 at halftime, coach Steve Crago said.
Jack Murphy scored 6 of his 11 points in the third quarter as the Wilmington squad rallied to tie the game at 37-37 at the end of the third.
Cameron Coomer scored 7 points in the fourth quarter as the Hurricane took control of the game, outscoring the Blue Lions 19-7 in the final period.
Evans finished with a game-high 26. Chris Custis, Connor Mitchell and Blake Rhodehamel had 4 points each.
