Marburger, France lead Falcons at Viking Classic

Clinton-Massie’s Aric France and Joey Marburger were named to the all-tournament team at the Viking Classic bowling tournament held Saturday at Poelking South in Dayton.

France was fourth overall with a 626 series (200, 222, 204). Marburger was fifth overall with a 609 (188, 233, 188). The team finished third overall.

Coach Shonda Marburger said the Falcons performed well in their individual games, but struggled in the baker games. Three of their six Baker games were in the 150s. Baker games were 155, 193, 203, 156, 189, 159.

Others for the Falcons were Corey Potts (186, 172), Jacob Wellman (145), Chandler Morsch (155, 177), David Poynter (167, 188) and Kenton McInerney (126, 149).

For the Lady Falcons, they were seventh overall. Josie Wolfe led the way with a 425 series (155, 127, 143). Katie Starnes had 362 (124, 103, 135), Kathryn Wilson 401 (124, 152, 125), Gwen Broderick 325 (109, 97, 119) and Brittany Fry 371 (121, 142, 108).

Baker games for the girls were 173, 166, 179, 151, 140, 110.

For the reserve girls, Massie finished 14th overall. Rachel Cochran “continues to improve,” coach Marburger said. She led the Lady Falcons with a 427 (149, 138, 140). Her sister Casey Cochran was next with 407 (124, 155, 128).

Also, Jennifer Callewaert had 266 (73, 124, 69) and Carole Umstead finished with 359 (118, 131, 110).
