Lady Falcons rally for SCOL road win 54-50

CHILLICOTHE — A 23-point fourth quarter rallied Clinton-Massie to a 54-50 win over Chillicothe in South Central Ohio League girls basketball action Thursday night.

The Lady Falcons trailed the Lady Cavaliers 37-31 going into the final period.

But Madison Purkey poured in nine points and Massie converted all eight of its free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

The win puts Massie at 14-3 overall and 8-3 in league play. Chillicothe is 11-7 overall and 6-5 in the SCOL.

Purkey led the Lady Falcons with 20 points. She had nine at halftime and then just two in the third quarter before erupting for nine in the final quarter.

Miquela Santoro had 15 points for Carlos Roberts’ squad.

Savannah Meyers and Santoro both had seven rebounds. Santoro also had six steals and four assists.

Shawnee Smith led Chillicothe with 21 points. She drained four three-pointers, including a pair in the final quarter.

While the homestanding Cavaliers were 4 of 8 at the line, visiting Clinton-Massie was 17 for 23. Going into the fourth quarter, though, the Lady Falcons were just 9 for 15 at the line. Santoro (4-for-4), Purkey (2-for-2) and Savannah Meyers (2-for-2) were perfect at the line in the fourth.
