MOWRYSTOWN – Despite four players in double figures, Clinton-Massie had to hold of a furious Whiteoak comeback for a 71-60 non-league win in boys basketball action.

The Falcons are 6-8 on the year and in the midst of four games in six days. They’ll play Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week.

Brandon Ashbaugh led Whiteoak with 20 points, 12 of those coming in the furious fourth quarter comeback.

But Massie had four players in double figures, led by Thomas Meyers’ 17 point effort. Nick Chowning had 16 points, Noah Greathouse added 15 and Trey Uetrecht scored 13.

Meyers also had eight rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots. “He played very well for us,” CM coach Dustin Eads said.

Greathouse had seven rebounds. Bryce Boyd did not score but “played very well defensively” for the Falcons, Eads said.

Clinton-Massie held a slim 15-14 first quarter lead.

The Falcons then outscored the Wildcats 47-23 in the middle two quarters to take a 62-35 lead into the final period.

Chowning had nine in the second while Meyers had 10 in the third. Greathouse had seven in the second and eight in the third.

In essence, Whiteoak did not know who to focus its defense on for the Falcons.

But Massie had to hold on the final quarter to secure the win as Whiteoak made a furious 25-9 comeback.
