WHS boys bowlers advance to district tourney

BLUE ASH — Led by Zach Zeckser, the Wilmington High School boys bowling team has qualified for the district tournament next week.

The Hurricane finished third in the Div. I sectional tournament Wednesday here at Crossgate Lanes. Elder won the tournament with 4,271 while Milford was second with 4,190. Wilmington followed with 4,188. Fairfield was fourth at 4,120 with Moeller fifth at 4,004.

WHS struggled early with an 879 first game but rallied with a 1,073 in the second game. Then Wilmington had 1,244 over the course of six Baker games, which was the best among all 17 teams in the event.

Wilmington will continue its season 9;45 a.m. Feb. 25 at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek in the Div. I Southwest District tournament.

Individually, the five WHS bowlers finished in the top 46.

Zeckser led the way with a 661 series, good enough for fourth overall among individuals. He had games of 161, 258 and 242.

Sawyer Kratzer was 10th with a 629 (198, 249, 182) and Josh Cordy was 28th with a 568 (182, 189, 197). Ryan Hottinger had a 554 (172, 183, 199) and finished 37th and Tristan Reiley had 532 (166, 194, 172) and was 46th overall.

Noah Dolezal of Milford was the top individual with a 711 (230, 244, 237).
