Blan senior Richardson 4th in district; gets 3rd trip to state

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — Blanchester High School senior Erika Richardson earned Saturday her third trip to the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Gymnastics Championships.

Richardson was fourth overall in the uneven parallel bars at the Southwest District meet at Lakota East High School on Saturday.

Richardson posted a 8.575 score on the bars. Casey Gittelman of Anderson and Minori Nakada of Troy tied for first at 8.825 with Emma Kain of Centerville third with 8.8.

Richardson was 27th in the state meet in the bars last season with an 8.55 score. She was 25th as a sophomore in 2014 with an 8.475 score.

Richardson was hopeful to advance to the state meet in the all-around competition but finished 27th overall with a 32.075 score. Her scores in the individual disciplines were 8.575 in bars, 7.875 in vault, 7.05 in beam and 8.575 in the floor exercise.
