WHS lacrosse nets first shutout since ’07

Recording its first shutout in nine seasons, the Wilmington High School club lacrosse team opened its season Monday with a 10-0 win over Taylor.

Hurricane senior Zane Stevens scored four goals to lead the offensive attack.

Josiah Keiter, a senior, had three goals while TraLee Joiner, a junior, added two goals. Sophomore Cody Cravens also had a goal for Wilmington.

Coach Adam Shultz said the shutout was the school’s first since the 2007 season.

“The team earned this win,” Shultz said. “Our players all worked hard for this one.”

Wilmington will play 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Eagles Lacrosse Club.
