ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Clinton-Massie banged out 18 hits in a season-opening 16-2 rout of Waynesville Tuesday afternoon in five innings on the CMHS diamond.
The Lady Falcons had three hits each by Taylor Florea, Kelsey Carter and Hailey Clayborn.
“I was very pleased with our play tonight,” CM coach Andy Lauer said. “We hit the ball very well and our pitchers did a great job on the mound.”
Sophmore Claire Carruthers and Florea, a freshman, both had four strikeouts each while combining to hold the Lady Spartans to three hits.
“We jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on seven hits in the first inning which gave us the momentum we needed,” Lauer said. “I liked what I saw from the team and hopefully we can continue to get better.”
Emilie Fisher had a two-run homer in the third while Carter and Madilyn Newton drove in three runs each.
