ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Noah Greathouse singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth then earned the pitching save in the seventh as Clinton-Massie defeated Waynesville 6-5 Tuesday in a non-league baseball game at Paul Schwamberger Field.

“Our defense was still pretty solid,” CM coach Brian Camp said. “We executed a lot of things pretty well.”

Massie will open South Central Ohio League play Wednesday with Washington Senior, one of the best teams in the area, said Camp.

The Falcons (3-0) led 3-2 and 5-4 early but the Spartans (2-1 on the year) tied the game at 5-5 in the fourth.

In the Clinton-Massie sixth, J.T. Wolf led off with a single then stole second. Two outs later, Greathouse rifled a single to right to put the Falcons up 6-5, Camp said.

In the seventh, Greathouse went to the mound in relief of starter Aric France. Greathouse set the Spartans down 1-2-3 with two strikeouts to finish off the win.

France struck out three and walked just one in six innings.

Weston Trampler had two hits, scored two runs and drove in three runs.
