’Cats clobber Rockets on trio of 2-run HRs

BLANCHESTER — Jared Monhollen pitched four strong innings and had two doubles at the plate to lift Blanchester to a 12-2 win in five innings over Clermont Northeastern Wednesday in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division game at Bott Field.

The Wildcats are now 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the National Division.

“We needed a big performance from Jared on the mound and we got just that,” said BHS head coach Aaron Lawson. “He had command of all his pitches and was able to get ahead. He really kept CNE off balance, being able to throw his pitches in any count. I hope this gives Jared confidence that his stuff is good enough to pitch at this level. He is tough to hit when he can locate.”

Travis Nelson, Alec Richardson and Dylan Fawley all clubbed two-run homeruns for the Wildcats.

“Once we jumped out to a lead, I stayed on them to keep their focus and keep adding,” Lawson said. “This was a big win tonight for us. It really sets the table how I would like to approach all league games this season.”
