WHS bats come alive in 15-5 mauling of McClain

Chris Wolary had three hits and drove in five runs as Wilmington notched its first South Central Ohio League win of the season Wednesday over McClain, 15-5, in five innings on the WHS diamond.

Wolary had a pair of doubles and a triple to lead a 15-hit attack.

The offense backed the strong starting pitching of Steven Krause who went four innings and struck out nine. He gave up two earned runs.

Brett Bell and Brad Keller also pitched for the Hurricane.

McClain pulled within 9-5 in the top of the fifth but WHS erupted for six runs to end the game. The final blow came when Ray Hottinger stroked a single to knock in two runs and end the game.

Wilmington is 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the SCOL.

Jordan Ianson drove a ball over the fence in the third for a two-run homerun. He also had another hit in the game. Krause, Keller and Brady McCune had two hits as well for Wilmington.
