EC girls track, field 7th at Georgetown

GEORGETOWN — The East Clinton girls track and field team finished seventh Wednesday at the Georgetown Invitational.

Coach Michael Fritz said the Lady Astros experienced “some adversity” for this meet but their effort was pleasing. “All of the girls supported each other and competed,” he said.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Emilee Cross, Haylee Garrison, Shelby Williams and Alexandra Hughes finished third overall.

Cross also finished seventh in the 400-meter dash and was part of the seventh place 4×400-meter relay team along with Sam Gaddis, Williams and Hughes.

AJ Mclees was fifth in the shot put and the 4×100-meter relay team of Brittney Wheeler, Mindy Bean, Rebecca Bevan and Kylee Hidy finished fifth. Bean also was sixth in the long jump while Gaddis was seventh in the long jump.

Wheeler was seventh in the 200-meter dash. Hidy finished eighth in the 100-meter dash and Olivia Guard was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles.
