Ladycats defense costly in 11-6 loss to Indians

BLANCHESTER — Five errors led to seven unearned runs in Blanchester’s 11-6 loss to Hillsboro Tuesday in non-league softball action on the BHS diamond.

“Simply put, our inconsistency on defense hurt us,” BHS head coach Jamey Grogg said. “At times, we made some outstanding plays but would then turn around and make an error on a routine play.”

Grogg said the pitching of Shayla Sicurella and Katy Henry was solid. They “did their job and threw strikes and we put six runs on the board but we just didn’t make enough plays on defense when we needed.”

Savana Greene and Kassidy Abney had two hits each for Blanchester.
