EC girls track, field at McClain

GREENFIELD — The East Clinton girls track and field team competed in a meet Tuesday at McClain High School.

“We are seeing improvement each meet from everyone, so we are very excited about that,” EC coach Michael Fritz said.

The Lady Astros had a trio of first place finishes — Samantha Gaddis in the long jump, Page Hughes in the high jump and AJ Mclees in the shot put.

East Clinton was second in three of the four relays. The 4×800-meter team of Shelby Williams, Hannah Pickering, Alexandria Hughes and Alexis Haines was runnerup as was the 4×100-meter team of Brittney Wheeler, Veronica Brewer, Rebecca Bevan and Kylee Hidy. The final event of the day, the 4×400-meter relay also was second for EC and consisted of Brewer, Gaddis, Haines and Pickering.

Brewer was third in the 400-meter dash while Wheeler was third in the 200. Olivia Guard also finished third in the 100-meter hurdles. Haines was third in the 400-meter dash.

Haylee Garrison, Mindy Bean, Reese Morgan and Katie Vida teamed in the 4×200-meter relay and finished third.

Fourth place finishers were Wheeler in the 100-meter dash, Cassie Parks in both the shot put and the discus, Gaddis in the 400-meter dash, Guard in the 300-meter hurdles and Rebecca Bevan in the 200-meter dash.

Pickering was fifth in the 800-meter run and Tressana Osborne was fifth in the 200-meter dash.
