LEES CREEK — Camille Hughes of the East Clinton junior high school girls track and field team set two records Wednesday in a meet with Fayetteville and Wilmington’s Rodger O. Borror Middle School.
Hughes set a new record in the discus (88-6) and the shot put (40-0) and finished first in both events.
As a team East Clinton finished second behind Borror and ahead of Fayetteville.
Myah Jones of EC won the 200-meter hurdles in 35.9 seconds. She also won the 100-meter hurdles in 19.5 while teammates Rozanna Brown finished fifth and Paige Bowman was sixth. All three posted personal best times.
Emma Malone was third in the 100-meter dash with Jami Dailey fourth and Hannah Butcher sixth.
Mersadees Gulley was third in the 1,600-meter run and Sarah Ross was fourth, both recording PRs in the event.
The EC 4×100-meter relay team of Jones, Carlie Ellis, Butcher and Malone were second in a personal best time.
Dailey, Ross, McKenzie Louk and Kylie Moreton also had a PR and finished second in the 4×200-meter relay.
Ellis was fourth and Braylynn Malone sixth in the 800-meter run.
Emma Malone was third in the long jump and Kylie Moreton finished fourth. In the shot put, Makenna Jarrell had a PR and was fourth and LeAnna Kaminsky had a PR and was sixth.
