’Cane tennis’ 27-match league win streak ends

CHILLICOTHE — Wilmington’s 27-match league tennis win streak ended Wednesday with a 3-2 loss to Chillicothe in South Central Ohio League action at CHS.

The streak includes WHS matches in both the SCOL and the Southwest Ohio Conference.

“Chillicothe has a great team,” WHS head coach Steve Reed said. “We need to get better and be ready for them next time.”

Matt Keiter posted a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win at first singles while the doubles pairing of Austin Embree and Jalen Douglas were 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) winners.

“Matt settled into the match in the second set and played well against a good freshman player,” Reed said. “Super proud of the way doubles battled especially second doubles.”
