Beat rolls on for CM softball in 11-0 rout of CHS

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — It’s bad enough having to face one of Clinton-Massie’s standout pitchers.

But to see both of them in the same game is quite the daunting task.

Clinton-Massie pitchers Taylor Florea and Claire Carruthers dominated Chillicothe 11-0 Thursday night in South Central Ohio League softball action at CMHS. Florea and Carruthers combined on a two-hitter while striking out nine. They did not walk a batter.

“I can’t say enough about the pitching of Taylor Florea and Claire Carruthers,” CM coach Anthony Lauer said. “They both pitched a great game.”

The win puts Clinton-Massie at 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the SCOL.

“This was a big win for us tonight,” Lauer said. “The fourth inning was big when we pushed seven runs across the plate. Chillicothe was right there with us at the top of the SCOL. The girls came out hitting and did a good job (in all facets).

“Every girl was putting the ball in play forcing Chillicothe to make a play. We keep telling our girls you have to put the ball in play and force your opponent to play it. It worked out well for us tonight because Chillicothe had a few errors that led to a couple base runners for us.”

Taylor Flanigan, Jessica Asher, Kelsey Carter, Madilyn Newton and Caitlyn Robinson were all credited with two runs batted in.
