CM softball keeps unbeaten record intact with 3-2 win

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Caitlyn Robinson was having little success Wednesday hitting against Hillsboro’s Hannah Breeden.

Until the seventh inning.

Robinson, 0-for-3 at the time, had a one-out single up the middle to score Emilie Fisher with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a 3-2 Clinton-Massie victory.

The South Central Ohio League win puts the Lady Falcons at 14-0 overall and 8-0 in the league.

“My hats off to Hillsboro,” CM coach Anthony Lauer said. “They came ready to play. Hannah Breeden pitched a great game and kept us off balance all night. This was a little gut check for us.”

Clinton-Massie led 1-0 going to the fifth when the Lady Indians plated two unearned runs to grab a 2-1 lead and put the Lady Falcons unblemished record in jeopardy.

“We really lost our focus,” Lauer said of Massie’s play in the fifth. “This is why I’m proud of this team though. Even after going down 2-1, my girls never gave up. Even on days like today when we are not having our best hitting day, these girls will continue to fight till the end.”

Taylor Florea (7-0) returned to the mound after a lengthy layoff to register 12 strikeouts in a dominating performance.
