Richardson leads ’Cats over Rockets

CINCINNATI — Alec Richardson was named MVP as Blanchester defeated Clermont Northeastern Wednesday 4-2 in a Cincinnati Reds Showcase game at Midland Field.

As MVP, Richardson will be honored on the field Sunday afternoon prior to the game between the Reds and the Chicago Cubs at Great American Ballpark.

Richardson had a hit and scored a run, then earned a save as the Wildcats won the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference game with the Rockets.

CNE led 2-0 early then Blanchester scored single runs in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Richardson took the mound with one out in the sixth and finished strong, throwing 10 of 13 pitches for strikes and retiring all five batters he faced.

Travis Nelson had a couple of hits and two stolen bases. Daulton Stevens had four stolen bases.
