WILMINGTON — The Wilmington High School softball team split a pair of games Saturday with Williamsburg and Fairfield.
Wilmington lost to Williamsburg 13-0 and defeated Fairfield 3-1.
Against the Wildcats, the Lady Hurricane did not have a hit.
“They have a very nice ball team,” WHS coach Glen Blessing said. “They could make a good run in the tournament.”
In the second game, Wilmington regrouped for a two-run win. “They did a good job of getting the ball in play and being aggressive on the bases,” Blessing said.
Madi Flint, Hannah Chase and Courtney Smart had RBI for Wilmington. Hunter Toller and Jaylyn Hensley both had two hits in the win. Toller scored two runs.
Kelsi Bair picked up the pitching victory.
“Kelsi did a great job hitting spots and keeping their batters off balance,” said Blessing
