Wildcats rally to tame Tigers 4-3

BLANCHESTER — Rallying from a 2-0 deficit against the best pitcher they’ve faced all season, the Blanchester baseball team defeated Bethel-Tate 4-3 Monday in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division game at Bott Field.

Blanchester is now 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the SBCN.

“What a great team victory,” BHS coach Aaron Lawson said. “That was the best pitcher we’ve faced all season. He threw hard and had a late-moving slider that was tough to recognize.

“I was glad we kept our composure after Bethel went up 2-0. We battled and found a way to win. That’s what good teams do.”

Alec Richardson was a homerun short of the cycle, drove in two runs, scored two runs and picked up the pitching save with a perfect seventh inning on the mound.

“Alec sure is having a great season,” Lawson said. “Somehow after pitching a complete game Saturday he said he was good to close it out. He looked as sharp as usual. He carried us at the plate.”

Max Davidson earned the pitching win.

“I am so proud of Max Davidson,” said Lawson. “He has really turned into a reliever that I can count on to bring in during a jam.”

Travis Nelson also had three hits and two RBI at the plate for the Wildcats.
